Voxengo Shinechilla

Developer’s Description

Voxengo Shinechilla is an experimental creative sound effect plug-in for professional audio and sound production applications. Shinechilla allows you to generate and blend 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonics with the original dry sound. The harmonic generation process offered by Shinechilla is quite unique on the plug-in market since it produces almost no inter modulation distortion. Shinechilla is mainly usable for solo instrument processing where it literally “shines” by producing convincing and full-bodied harmonic coloration. Shinechilla is also unique in that it is able to add harmonic coloration on top of the sound instead of distorting the whole sound. However, the option to saturate the whole sound is also available

Applications

  • Strong harmonic coloration
  • Radical timbre changing
  • Spectral saturation
  • Sound design
  • Stereo, mid-side, 5.1 surround plugin

Compatibility

This audio plugin can be loaded in any audio host application that conforms to the AudioUnit, AAX, or VST plugin specification.

This plugin is compatible with Windows (32- and 64-bit Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and later version, if not announced as unsupported) and macOS (10.11 and later version, if not announced as unsupported) computers (2.5 GHz dual-core or faster processor with at least 4 GB of system RAM required).  A separate binary distribution file is available for each target computer platform and audio plugin specification.  If supported on a specific processor, the plugin may internally utilize AVX2-optimized code.  Apple M1 native, Big Sur, and Monterey are supported.

This plugin seems to be incredibly useful for a variety of things, but I personally use it on kick drums and snares to give them a certain “bite” that seems to be impossible to achieve with normal harmonic enhancers.  I have managed to take samples from somewhat outdated synthesizers and process them with this in order to give them a more modern and clearer sound.  The additional harmonics blend perfectly into the mix and do not sound harsh unless the plugin is pushed too far.  There is nothing quite like this on the market to my knowledge, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a slightly different way of adding coloration to their sounds.

As good as waves NLS with the option to design console saturation, tube harmonics and Tube Grit and distortion, this is THE CONSOLE EMULATOR, it is what lampthruster was trying to achieve which I still have and use often.  The sound is Exceptional and I rate voxengo FX as an alternative for musical enthusiasts who cant afford the big name FX, but voxengo FX are even better than some of the “suggested by pros” FX vsts and give many a run for their money.  Soniformer 3 is the best processor for mastering I have ever used with the only downside being the processor hit and it has an excellent vintage tape vibe
