Interface Architect is a Cloud-based Microsoft Windows editing application which may be used for documenting the integration of systems within an organisation, by guiding users in the entry or automated-import of system interface details (eg program API signatures for RPC, flat-file definitions for ETL, XML and JSON definitions for middleware and SOA, and relational DB object signatures for data transfer), and defining the mapping rules that exist for communications between them and their associated non-functional requirements. A secure web-based UI is also available for sharing the interface information with invited users via the Internet.All information is securely-stored by Interface Architect using Microsoft Azure cloud services. Initial registration is required to obtain a login, the first 30 days of use (with storage limits) is free, after which a monthly subscription is required.

Traditional methods for capturing these have included the use of Word documents and spreadsheets, which have proved difficult to standardise, version, and share accurate and complete information among team members. Interface Architect is a tool in Maya that helps you to visually build your GUI for your own Maya tool. No coding is required but basic knowledge of GUI programming is recommended if you want a lot of customization for your GUI. The tool provides some default elements that you can add to your GUI. These are some commonly used elements such as button, text, text field, and different types of layout. You can also add customized elements into the GUI by giving input of the element type and attributes.
The tool also allows you to manipulate your GUI within its own Architecture structure so that you do not have to keep on track of your structure in the code. Interface Architect will generate a python code* based on your Interface Architecture. You can save it anywhere, and copy it into your own code to use it. The tool allows you to preview your GUI at anytime through the process as well.
