While this program scores points because of its free status, we don’t think it should be the only PC-privacy application you download. Similar to all utilities of this ilk, Washee cleans out basic Windows system areas, such as the Recycle Bin, temporary folders, and the Run menu item. It also nukes your Web-surfing history and related files, though it only works with Internet Explorer. You can add a list of folders to wipe by clicking the Custom Cleaner tab, but the program doesn’t have native support for third-party programs, such as file-sharing apps, IM clients, and Microsoft Office apps. We also missed a utility for securely shredding files, though you can’t expect everything from a free program. However, the upside of Washee’s simplicity is its user-friendly interface, which can be learned in a matter of seconds. This app works just fine for routine PC housecleaning, but more advanced users will demand a more powerful tool.
